Looks amazing
MB Pro 2015 with the 15” retina display. I played around with Cathode and had hours of fun “recreating” the look of 80s and 90s terminals. If you’re looking for a “powerful” terminal app for production… I’d say, look elsewhere. But for tinkering around on the command line, light coding and scripting, or even text gaming, Cathode is perfect for giving you that nostalgic retro feel. This is about as close as you can get to the real thing, short of spending hundred$ on an actual VT101/VT220/VT320 setup.
My biggest gripe is the Silvery futuristic OS X Title bar that can’t be hidden. Afik, there is no user-friendly way to hide the bar, and the only possible solution is for it to be instructed to do so at the application level. Give me a hidden-bar, and I’ll rate 5/5
One note.. the default fonts are a little modern-looking, so I installed "Glass TTY VT220” (give it a google) and after setting it to size 20 and using the scale adjuster to change the size on the screen, it looked like I literally had a VAX terminal trapped in my screen. It was almost unsettling to stand a few feet away and not see a giant CRT sticking out of the back of my laptop.
